A Call to Action: Responsible AI in Hospitality
As artificial intelligence (AI) rapidly transforms industries, the hospitality and travel sectors face a critical juncture. The question isn't whether to establish AI governance, but when, how, and where. Relying solely on national governments and international organizations is insufficient to protect consumers, employees, and the industry at large.

To proactively address this, the hospitality industry should prioritize three key initiatives:

  1. Establish an Independent Multilateral Organization: Create a body responsible for overseeing AI regulations in travel and hospitality, including auditing and certification processes managed by an independent third party.

  2. Adopt New Corporate Governance Standards: Mandate AI literacy for all employees and board directors, ensuring informed decision-making and ethical AI implementation.

  3. Prioritize Multilateral Projects: Develop new standards and protocols for the use of AI in human capital management, fostering transparency and fairness.

These steps are essential to harness AI's potential responsibly, ensuring it enhances rather than undermines the hospitality experience. By taking the lead, the industry can set a precedent for ethical AI integration, safeguarding its future and the trust of those it serves.
